TACKLE HUNGER- SOUPER BOWL OF CARING
Exactly 25 years ago, the Souper Bowl of Caring began with a simple prayer from a single youth group.
Since that day more than $100 million has been raised for local charities across the country.
Southminster Presbyterian Church will be donating to:
Second Harvest Food Bank in Nashville
Please bring your food or cash donations to help to feed the hungry and show compassion to those in need.
A handsome truck full of green beans pulled into our front parking lot on Friday, June 27th at around 7 PM. John and Judy Baker picked them up in Crossville and battled I 40 on a Friday afternoon. We bagged Friday night and Saturday morning. Thanks to 25 volunteers we bagged around 1000 lbs of beans and delivered them to. . .South End UMC Food Bank
Hamilton Road UMC Food Bank
Kayne Ave. Baptist Church Food Bank
The Little Pantry Food Bank
Nashville Union Mission
Members of the Zomi congregation also bagged beans for members of their congregation.
In addition to Southminster members, we had scout parents and members of the Caldwell Abbay Hall Neighborhood Association helping us bag. We were thankful that we could provide fresh produce to local Food Banks. In the process, we enjoyed the camaraderie and we made new friends.
Despite the on-and-off rain, we had a very successful bean drop.
